We met in 2018 and got engaged 12 months later. Our son, Harris, followed in 2021 and we married a year later. As if that wasn’t enough, in 2024 we decided to put our relationship to the ultimate test and launch our own business. With us benefitting from over 30 years’ combined experience in property and sales, alongside James’ BSc Estate Management degree and status as a Chartered Surveyor, opening our own estate agency was an obvious choice. And so, Mr & Mr Child was born.
James sold his first home off market without an agent. Together we later agreed the sale of our current home within a matter of days of going on the market at well over the asking price. This time we used an agent, but unimpressed with their efforts we took charge of it ourselves. We did everything from the valuation, staging, styling, photography, description and even negotiating the offers. It was these experiences that taught us that we could provide a ‘quintessentially different’ form of estate agency.

As a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, I am professionally trained and experienced in a whole host of property types and transactions - everything from the marketing and sale of new-build homes, historic country estates and prime multi-million pound development sites. More recently I have been providing development consultancy advice to private and public sector clients across the North for the world’s largest commercial real estate company.
I’ve always had a passion for property and have worked in the industry for over 20 years. But for over a decade, I was lucky enough for juggle my career as a Chartered Surveyor with my vocation as a professional rugby league referee.
I recently retired from rugby having achieved my boyhood dreams, including officiating major domestic and international finals. I want to bring this level of success to Mr & Mr Child to help you achieve your dream move.
When I’m not busy trying to sell homes, I enjoy family time with our young son Harris, who certainly keeps me on my toes, socialising with friends and going for walks with our Jack Russell, Mac.
As a Leeds boy with a background in sales and visual merchandising, I will ensure that your beautiful home is showcased to its full potential to target the right buyer and maximise its sale price. And yes, I’m obsessed with home styling and soft furnishings – can you ever have enough cushions and throws? Just don’t tell James I’ve bought yet more.
I’m your personal assistant right by your side from beginning to end. I help make the entire journey of selling and marketing your home a breeze. From staging and styling your home to compiling your standout bespoke magazine-style brochure, answering your questions to showing clients around your unique home, I’ll be there every step of the way.
Using my experience in sales, I know how to negotiate effectively to achieve the best possible outcome for the seller whilst fostering a positive relationship with the buyer.
On my days off, you’ll find me in my second job raising our tornado of a toddler, which has certainly honed my ability to spin the plates of parenthood and running a business.
